When I’m giving messages at a public event, my joy comes from helping
someone in the audience connect with the spirit of a loved one who has
passed on. If that person thanks me afterward, I’m appreciative for
their kind words. But I also remind the person that it's not me giving
the message, but spirit working through me. All I do
is show up. And when someone gushes compliments, I feel as
uncomfortable as a vegetarian at an all-you-can-eat prime rib dinner.

A New Year always heralds a new beginning. That’s why we make New
Year’s resolutions – because we feel that we’re a year older, a year
wiser, and the opportunity for change for the better is signaled by the
New Year’s Eve drop of the Times Square glitter ball (or, up here in
Toronto, the lighting up of the CN Tower).
However, in these hesitant times, I can understand why people might
wonder how will we be able to cope – and even thrive – in the New Year?
Well, here’s the secret to making 2009 work for you: You’ve got to know
how to move from “me” to “we”.

Hello again, my friends! Where has the summer gone? Since my last bit
of musing here, I’ve been quite busy. I visited Lily Dale three times
and was a featured medium on Canadian Weekend, served spirit at several
Toronto churches, taught workshops on intuition and psychic development
in Toronto and in New York, was named the Canadian correspondent for Psychic News
(a Spiritualist newspaper published in England), argued election
politics – both Canadian (Harper vs. Dion) and American (Hillary vs.
the world) – seen two children off to college and university, and
valiantly tended rose bushes that, at times, seemed more temperamental
than a bunch of unhappy cats.
Whew! Sometimes, it’s not easy being human!
