BOBBY’S STORY

Bobby Slash is a man with a big heart, and he’s
got more interesting life path history than an encyclopedia. A native
New York City-er, he’s a musician who’s met John Lennon and watched
rock ‘n roll icons through the 1980s and ‘90s come and go. He’s also a
student medium, a gifted intuitive. And what he said in my class
shocked me, him, and the individual he gave the message to.
On the second day of my workshop “Mediumship: Back to Basics,” which I taught in July at Lily Dale, New York, I broke the class into two circles of about 15 students each, and asked everyone in their circle to give a mediumistic message. This type of message is, basically, information given to you by someone who has passed into the world of spirit. My students were predominantly new to intuitive development, but were eager to learn about their emerging psychic skills. I was also blessed to have several full-time mediums in the class, who took my seminar to sharpen their abilities and learn a few new techniques.
I went back and forth from one circle to the next, listening to my students give their messages. Some spoke confidently, while others scrunched their eyes closed and struggled to speak. To those, I gave encouraging comments, and made the experience as non-threatening as possible. (Do you know fear of public speaking is the number one fear among people?)
Then it was Bobby’s turn. I’ll let him tell his story, which he kindly forwarded to me through an email:
“What I received from spirit for a woman I was reading for was a man’s name and his birth date. The woman said that all made sense, except for one fact – the person I had mentioned was alive. As I turned to look at the person in the circle who was next to speak, you [Carolyn] said to give the message anyway. I concentrated hard, and after a few moments, spirit told me that the children are okay and well, and that the man was at peace. This confused the woman even more. However, she said she and the man had had several children while they were married.
“We were then informed that this could happen – the spirit of a very forceful person with a lot of energy could come through while he/she was still on the earth plane. But it didn’t happen very often.
“Later, as I was sitting on the ‘good ol’ porch’ at the Maplewood Hotel, someone came to me and said that I’d done a reading in your class for her friend, and then gave me some very sad news. It turns out that the man in my message had died very close to the time the message was given. Welllllll..... It just blew me away. The thought of delivering such a powerful and meaningful message at such a crucial time... As you say: ‘The power and wisdom of spirit!!’ I burst out into tears. I know that some of those tears were happy, shocked tears over what I had accomplished, BUT they were mostly tears about how the woman and her children were.
“After that, I did some meditation asking my spirit guides questions, BUT also thanking them and spirit for coming to me (as I always do).
“Having studied the art of mentalism and becoming friends with The Amazing Kreskin has taught me a lot to prepare to learn to be a medium. It was funny how, when I first saw you down at the Forest Temple [where public message events are held at Lily Dale], another medium told me: "You don’t need books or classes to be a medium. Just Do It!!" Which is all fine and well, BUT it never ever hurts to continue to learn in life. And I have to say that YOUR class was such a great learning experience. I strongly recommend it!!”
And when Bobby signed off his email with the following paragraph – well, how could I not want to give him an enthusiastic smile?
“I felt that I learned sooooo much, that I’m planning to put up a picture frame with our picture, your book and CD on my wall in the future. So when people ask, ‘Who is That?’, I can reply, ‘One of my BEST Teachers.’ I have a song entitled ‘Peace Within the Light’ and I will write it about you (with your permission, of course).”
Permission granted, of course. (I’m flattered.)
What makes Bobby’s feat so amazing is that he delivered a message from someone who had passed very soon after his death. And, what’s more, the experience is also a testament to the fellow who passed; though he was divorced from this woman, he cared about her and their children so much, he did whatever he could to get through to her and tell her he was all right.
And Bobby – I hope you continue to develop your psychic skills. And I’m looking forward to dancing to your song soon!
