Don’t Curse Yourself!
The Law of Attraction says, basically, that our thoughts create our
lives. When we maintain a positive outlook, we not only bring into our
lives other positive, supportive people, but we perceive the world as a
fun and tantalizing place that’s rich with opportunities for spiritual
growth.
But sometimes it’s easy to forget that for some people, keeping a sunny
disposition isn’t easy. Case in point: I received this email last week
from a brave yet questioning soul who was afraid that he was living
under a curse.
Is it possible to have a curse that everyone you meet feels some kind of bad vibe and seeks to avoid you at all cost? The past few years, I’ve had no luck whatsoever. I have a hard time making friends. I feel that I’m a good person, but there’s some kind of curse in my life. It’s making me feel very down and very lonely. I feel like withdrawing into myself. Could I be cursed? Could I have a negative energy around me?
I thought about that email for a few days before I wrote back. I felt bad for him – and then realized that, as a psychic medium, I was probably picking up on his sadness and negativity. Which goes to prove once again the Law of Attraction. In social situations, he was projecting his sadness and self-doubt, people were subconsciously responding to his downbeat feelings by staying away, and he was beginning to wonder if he was under a curse.
Personally, I don’t believe in curses because I don't believe people have power over me. I believe my guides and angels watch out for me. To admit you are cursed is to admit that someone else is psychologically, emotionally or spiritually stronger than you. While I’ll freely admit that there are people who are physically stronger and occasionally smarter than me (which is why I have a tax accountant), I refuse to believe that anyone is mentally or spiritually stronger – because I refuse to see myself in competition with anyone on that level.
However, I do believe that we can attract negative energy – not necessarily a "curse" – if we think negative thoughts or do deeds that are harmful to ourselves or to others. Also, if we respond to negativity with fear, we only feed that negativity by giving it more power. It's like trying to stop an argument by yelling at someone in a voice louder than that person is using to argue with you.
For example, if I thought someone was trying to give me the "evil eye", I would choose either to ignore it, because I feel very self-assured, or I might pray for that person's soul so he shouldn't feel so negative. And I'd ask my guides and angels to meet that person's guides and ask them to help that individual find happiness.
That said, where’s the magic switch that we can flip in our brain that will change us from thinking sad, negative thoughts into expressing positive, life-affirming beliefs? Sorry to say, there’s no magic word to say or enchanted amulet to wear that will instantly give you a wonderful new life. No, I take that back – there are magic words, but change may take time. As Wayne Dyer says in his wonderful book Real Magic, we can use positive thought to manifest miracles to change our lives. Try this affirmation: "I am a magnet for good friends who honour and love me. And I am a good friend who honours and loves my friends in all ways." Repeat this many times daily for at least three weeks (the time it takes to change energy), and believe it. Truly believe.
So to my email friend: I’m sorry that you feel you’re unlucky at finding honest, true friends. But things change. I feel you’re a good person at heart and you’d like to attract people who have the same goodness as you. You can do this. Please, don’t visit some phony psychic who’ll promise to lift a curse for a mucho dinero, because there’s no such thing as a curse. Just think about it.
