Why Don't I Get A Message? PDF Print E-mail

Whenever I deliver messages from Spirit, as I did at two recent public message events – at The Spiritual Centre in North York, and Into the Mystik in Bolton – my goal is to give each of the 25 audience members a message. I don’t just want them to be psychic messages; I push myself to bring forth mediumistic evidence. In other words, I won’t tell people “I feel your life will change in three months…” or “Your grandmother is here…”

But sometimes, try as I can, there are people who don’t – or, should I say “aren’t open to”? – receive a message that night. Lately, I’ve been wondering why this is so, especially since I know everyone has relatives, guides and angels in spirit who want to help that person. So, why can’t I give everyone a message?

I have three theories:

1) Some people do not know their relatives. This happens a lot. I’ll bring through a grandmother or uncle who I see in my mind’s eye so clearly, I can describe that individual down to the clothes she liked to wear and a mannerism she was known for – as in one case, an elderly lady from Saskatchewan who liked to play the spoons. But the person I was reading for just looked at me dismissively and said, “I don’t know, I never met my grandmother.” Then spirit brought her sister, and the person said again, “I never met my aunt, I was two years old when she passed.” Encountering that negativity, spirit pulled back and I really had to struggle to deliver a message.

2) Fear. I like to start my message events by going straight to Spirit, and seeing who’s making the most noise to come through. Once, Spirit showed me a windsurfer and a cottage on Lake Huron. No one would take him. I gave the spirit’s height, the first letter of a name I was getting… And still no one took him. So I cut the tie and moved on. Later, an audience member approached me and said she recognized the person I was describing, but didn’t want to say anything because this was the first message of the evening, and she was afraid to respond out loud. Then she asked for the message, but I couldn’t deliver it: I had already cut the tie that had bound us.

3) People want a certain spirit to come through so badly, they don’t pay attention when another spirit shows up instead. Just because Uncle Ed was a mean old grouch on the Earth plane doesn’t mean that he’s turned into a wise sage on the other side, and if he didn’t want to talk to you when he lived a few streets away, he probably won’t want to speak to you if he’s just passed. (We hope, once he has had a life review, he’ll change his mind, but you never know.) Other times, the spirit of an old high school buddy or a neighbour wants to touch in with someone, but that someone is too fixated on hearing from dad, so the spirit – and the subsequent message – goes unclaimed.

At my Into the Mystik appearance, my intention was to give messages to all 25 audience members. Unfortunately, six people did not get messages. Thankfully, store co-owner Melinda Bentley wrote down the 28 messages that came through that evening, then posted them in the shop. After a week, only four of the messages went unclaimed. And I had to wonder – if someone had paid more attention, or had been a little more open, would I have made my goal of serving everyone?
