When Jeanette sat down for our session, I felt nothing. That was odd, because usually I start to feel spirit the moment someone walks into my office – it’s as if my client’s spirit people are so overjoyed that they’ll be connecting with their loved ones on this side of life, they can’t wait to start yammering into my inner ear. But with Jeanette, I felt zilch. What was happening?

UNDERSTANDING PHYLLIS’S CHILDREN
When Phyllis told me she’d like me to try to reach her children in spirit, I immediately felt a lump in my throat. There’s nothing more heartbreaking for a parent than losing a child. And, being a mother of two, I really feel that sorrow. But I have to put my feelings aside – I’m here to help, not share sadness with my clients. When faced with a distressing situation, I’ve learned it’s best to acknowledge my sitter’s grief.

THE LAST VISITOR
The call display on Carla’s cell phone showed the hospital was calling. She thumbed the receive icon. “It’s your father,” the nurse said, a hint of sorrow in her voice. “I think you need to come back. And you might want to call your family.” Carla breathed deeply, thanked the nurse, then clicked off. She had spent six hours that afternoon at the hospital, and though her father, Guy – short for Giuseppe – had been conscious and alert, his breathing had been laboured. THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE DARK
We sat in a circle in the dark room and watched Angela’s Ghost Radar cell phone app on the table before us. As the app hunted for spirit presence, a line swept continuously across the concentric circles on the dull green radar screen. Suddenly, a yellow bead of light popped onto the radar, alerting us of a spirit presence nearby. “What is your name?” Angela called into the darkness. We listened to the silence. “Can you tell us your name?” Then, buttons on Alice’s KII Meter, which senses electromagnetic fields, began glowing green, yellow and red. I felt a prickly sensation on the back of my neck. Yes, spirit was definitely around – but how would it reveal itself to us?

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING?
Anna’s mother was dying. Her father had passed three months ago. “My parents hated each other,” Anna said quietly, “but they never divorced.” She brushed a stray strand of grey hair off her forehead and smirked. But I could feel the pain throbbing deep in Anna’s heart, pulsing out from her soul like cold waves. As I mentally blessed Anna and asked my guides to help me help her, a presence that identified itself as Anna’s father stepped in. He wanted to talk to his daughter. There was an uneasy energy around him, as if he was trying to block something. Was his message filled with anger and, if so, would Anna be hurt by hearing from him? Should I censor his words? I thought. No, Anna had the right to hear from her father’s spirit – if that’s what she truly wanted. So I began the session by asking, “Anna, do you want to know everything?”
