ANOTHER PSYCHIC SCAM
I received a heartbreaking telephone call for help from a young woman last week. She had been seeing a psychic for several years, one she trusted, and recently confided to the person that she suspected her boyfriend of infidelity. The “trusted” psychic then asked the woman for $300; the money would be used to put a spell on the wayward boyfriend and bring him back. Well, she paid the $300 but the spell didn’t work, so the psychic said she needed a stronger mojo and told the woman to pay another $600. Troubled by this, she called and asked me what she should do.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2012
A few days into the new year, I got a telephone call from the producer of the “JJ and Melanie in the Morning” radio show, on 93.5FM-The Flow. The producer was looking for a psychic to give predictions on the air, and found me on the Internet. Excitedly, I called him back. Unfortunately, I’d been out when he called, and by the time I responded, three hours had gone by, and he’d lined up someone else. Oh, well, it’s always fun to get invited to a party, even if you can’t go. Maybe next year! But his call got me thinking – what did I see ahead for 2012? So I sat down a few days ago and made a few predictions, which I’ll check at the end of the year – provided that the Mayans were all wrong, of course.

A SPECIAL BEGINNING
As I open my new Landscape of China calendar to the first page – I couldn’t find another Crop Circle wall calendar this year – I reflect for a moment on 2011, then gaze at the picture of a misty mountain that illustrates January 2012. The change from old to new. Where I’ve come from, and where I’m going. New years and new beginnings always tickle me with a bit of wistfulness, and fill me with new hope. And it especially reminds me of one of the most important beginnings I ever experienced – the birth of my daughter – and how, during that birth, I saw her soul enter her body.

GHOSTLY SOUNDS FROM BEYOND
It’s taken me awhile to admit it, but mediumship has entered the digital age. Even though I was an office manager before I became a full-time psychic medium, I’ve taught computer know-how in adult education courses, and I’m comfortable using computers to help me manage my life – I never thought laptops and apps applied to message work. But I see things differently now. I currently use computers to record readings, instead of taping sessions on cassettes. Why? For one thing, fewer people these days have cassette players. Secondly, I’ve found a safe, secure way to turn readings into digital files that only the client and myself can access. So far, this new method of recording readings is working wonderfully. I just wonder how long it will be before spirit catches up, and I start getting the same type of client comments I heard when I was using tapes: “Who was that other voice I heard whispering in the background?”

SOMETIMES, I BLUSH
Sometimes, I can’t believe the words that come out of my mouth. And, actually, they’re not even my words! It happens on occasion when I connect with a spirit that has come for one of my clients – I can deal with a few naughty phrases that might slip out in the privacy of a one-on-one reading. “Did your father curse a lot?” I’ll then ask, and get a nodding head in reply. But when off-colour remarks pop out at a public message service, or when I’m serving at a Spiritualist church – yikes! A few blue words, and I’m red in the face. It just goes to show: When we transition to spirit, it’s not all harps and angels.
